Lover, where have you been…

Today is the day! Since winter first made its approach known by allowing its tendrils of chilly air to snake their way through the sky and trees last fall, Summer has taken a stand. The smile on my face resembles the coy, mischievious  curl of the Cheshire cat.
It is 73 degrees right now (3:43pm pst) and I’m in shorts and a tank top. The feel of the Sun on my skin is like the caress of a tender, caring, intuitive lover. Sun, you have been gone far too long.
The Sun creates a level of desired irresponsibility for me. I should be reading the latest reading assignment for my grant writing class but I can not make myself abandon the warmth and healing the Sun willingly gives. Even though NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) forecasts tomorrow and the next day to be even warmer (80’s!!! Yes!!!!!), I’m not taking any chances with the bipolar disorder of the Pacific Northwest. No weather is ever guaranteed here. Well, almost. Rain is (almost) always a safe bet.
So, today, my Hollyhock roots went in the ground. Some lavender seeds followed. The dogs are lazing around my feet, enjoying the sunbathing not often available.
Today is the first “Ode to Summer” day of 2014 and I’m loving every last tantilizing moment, with as much skin bared to the Sun as possible. Pure ecstasy.
