Vacation Time, Plant Growth, Amazing Weather…

Well, I am officially on vacation. Woot!! The last two mornings I have gotten to sleep until I naturally wake up on my own and I have to say that not being jarred awake by the alarm clock is so soothing. It’s also soothing to wake up and not have to actually get out of bed if I don’t feel like it.

My plants are doing so well!! Things are really starting to get tall. Almost everything I planted in the 5-gallon buckets just the other day look to be twice the size they were when transplanted. My sunflowers are really starting to get some height to them, though the Velvet Queens, Autumn Beauties, Radiance, and Chianti sunflowers are growing much quicker and a bit taller than the Mammoth sunflowers. I think it may be time to add some fertilizer to the gardens.

The weather has been just glorious!! Yesterday we reached a high of 89 degrees. It was really awesome!! Today’s forecasted high is 86. This is the weather I love. Seeing all the sunburns people are getting is a bit scary, though. Thankfully, I have been staying out of direct sunlight, for the most part, and I have not burned at all. A little bit tan, but no burn. I need to pick up some sunscreen.

I talked with the insurance company the moving company uses. They are going to be picking up the van today to take it to the shop they use to assess the damages. The insurance agent says the van will probably be an economic total, which means repairs will cost more than it is worth to put in the van. I should know before the week is out.

I am sort of looking forward to the van not sitting just off our driveway. It really sucks to pull in and look straight at the damages it has. I know it could have been so much worse but… I guess it just reminds me of the whole incident and just how bad it could have been. I was incredibly lucky that it turned out the way it did.

I went to the doctor the day after the incident. The doctor said things look ok but sent me for x-rays to make sure. I should hear from him sometime in the next day or so since the x-ray facility is not a part of the clinic. I’m feeling fine, though, so I am not expecting to hear anything bad. The insurance company is going to take care of the medical expenses, as well.

Lance is going nuts with the cast on his arm and hand. I feel for him. I’m not sure I wouldn’t be as nutty about it as he is. Ok. I actually don’t think I would be quite as overwhelmed by it as he is, but, then, again, I really don’t know. A cast by itself would be frustrating, I’m sure, but adding the loss of a body part to it…well, I don’t know what that is like.

Well, I’m off to wander through my day. I have no plans so its going to be great to just do what strikes my fancy as it comes along. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
