I finally have a couple of coneflower sprouts! I actually dug one up to see if the roots were rotting or what and found a root with sprouts on it so I quickly reburied it. As it turns out, the coneflower sprout in the photo has been up for a little while and I thought it was a weed I would need to take care of soon. Have I mentioned I’ve never grown coneflowers? Thankfully, I hadn’t gotten to weeding the area, yet. I was waiting for the coneflowers to come up so I could discern flower from weed.
I also dug up one of my calla lily bulbs. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t as good. The one I dug up was rotted. At this point, I’m going to assume the other 5 calla lily bulbs are in the same condition. It’s a bit disappointing. I was really looking forward to these velvety pink and black beauties. Oh well. I’ll just have to find something to fill the void, and who knows. Some of them might be fine and surprise me.
