So, I’m back from taking my laptop to Best Buy to find out what was going on with it. I told the guy at the customer service desk what it had been doing, that it was plugged in at the time, and please please help. He looked up my service plan for the laptop then proceeded to take the laptop out of the box. Once the lid was open, he pressed the power button. Nothing. Then out came the power cord from the box and the computer plugged in. It fired up, loaded until I needed to put in my password, which I did immediately, moderately in disbelief that it had made it this far. Password entered, Windows 8 start screen, go to desktop. Not a single glitch.
The guy then asked me if I wanted to exchange it anyway. I’ll admit there was a part of me that really wanted to say yes; the part that loves to play with a new gadget. The thing is, all of my photos on here and all of the audiobooks that I haven’t yet put on my micro SD would have been lost. Best Buy’s Geek Squad charges around $200 to transfer files over to a new computer, which seems just ridiculous to pay if I can do the same thing at home, which I can. I boxed my laptop up again and we headed home.
First thing I did when I got home was grab my 1T external hard drive. Since I haven’t had this laptop for very long, transferring the photos to the external hard drive took almost no time at all. Transferring all of the audiobooks I have on here, all 64 of them, took much longer. Now, should my laptop start acting up, again, I will be coming home with a new laptop. No need to wait for it to full on crash, should that be the way it is heading.
So, other than a bit of wasted time and gas, everything turned out great. I’m up and running and, now, headed back to the wonderful post about basil I was working on to get it finished up. I hope everyone is having a most wonderful day!!!
Well that’s awesome. I hope it don’t give ya anymore trouble … or should I want it to??? 😛
