Sleep…I love sleep. I love crawling into bed, snuggling the blankets, that feeling of floating that comes as you begin to separate yourself from consciousness, the moment of release as the very last threads holding you awake slip away…there is nothing like it.
So, if I love sleep so much, why am I writing this at 2am? A noise. I can’t begin to tell you what the noise was, or if it was real or part of a dream I might have been having. All I know is I was sound asleep, something woke me, and now I’m awake.
I tried to go back to sleep. Usually, this is not a problem but, tonight (this morning), the conditions were all wrong. Maybe I woke up too much.
I was lying in bed, trying to go back to sleep, but the blanket wasn’t right. Then, Achilles decided to lie so close to me as to pin me against Lance. Brucie, one of our cats, decided this was a great time to come lie on my hip. Its muggy tonight because of the rain.
I could go on but I think you get the picture. So, here I sit, out on the deck, wishing I still had a king size bed, hoping sleep finds me, again. I have a clean first thing in the morning and I’m feeling pretty exhausted.
I’m getting cold now so I think I’ll had back in and see if I can once again find the slow drift into sleep.
